Instagram said users have been asking for this feature, adding in a blog post Tuesday, "We know hackers sometimes delete content when they gain access to an account and, until now, people had no way of easily getting their photos and videos back. Starting today, we will ask people to first verify that they are the rightful account holders when permanently deleting or restoring content from Recently Deleted."

Now, Instagram send removed content from user profiles to a "Recently Deleted" folder where it can be reviewed and restored later. Users can delete these contents permanently with their choice. On other hand users can push back the content on their profile by using this "Recently Deleted" folder. There should be lifespan of 30 days for the items in the Recently Deleted folder, except for stories which will stay in the folder for up to 24 hours from when they were published.
Instagram also announced that it was adding protection in order to prevent hackers from deleting posts. The Facebook-owned company said it will ask people to first verify that they are the rightful account holders while permanently deleting or restoring content from Recently Deleted. Make sure your Instagram app is updated to the latest version before relying on the Recently Deleted folder to save your content.
Users can access the specific folder by going to Settings > Account > Recently Deleted.
